A Private Pool Villa in Shimla: What to Know Before You Book
Thinking about a villa with a private pool in Shimla? Here's what makes a pool that's exclusively yours different from a shared hotel pool, and when it's worth planning a pool day around.
1 October 2026
Most hotels in Shimla with a pool mean a pool shared with however many other guests are staying that week - supervised by hotel staff, open on a schedule, rarely empty. A private pool villa works differently: the pool belongs to whichever one group has booked the house, for as long as they're there. At Sukhvasa Villas that's a five-bedroom whole-house booking in Beolia, on the edge of Shimla, with a pool that's never shared with anyone outside your own group.
What "Private" Actually Means Here
Sukhvasa Villas isn't let room by room. Whoever books the villa gets the whole property - all five bedrooms, the living spaces, and the pool - with nobody else staying in the house at the same time. That's different from a hotel's "private pool suite," which usually still shares a building, a lobby, and often the pool itself with other guests. Here there's no one else to share it with in the first place.
A Pool With the Mountains as a Backdrop
The pool sits in the villa's outdoor space with an open view of the valley and the ridgeline beyond - swim, dry off, and sit out to the same view the upstairs bedrooms get. It's a few steps from the bonfire area, which is usually where a pool afternoon turns into a pool-then-bonfire evening once the sun drops behind the hills.
Why It Suits Families Especially
A shared hotel pool means other people's children, other people's schedules, and someone else's idea of acceptable noise. A private pool removes all three at once: nobody's negotiating pool hours with other guests, and a family can let an afternoon run long without anyone else waiting for a turn. It's one of the quieter reasons a whole-villa stay tends to work better for families than a block of hotel rooms does. Worth saying plainly, though: there's no lifeguard or hotel staff watching the water, so children are your own group's responsibility to supervise, the same as at a private pool anywhere.
When to Plan a Pool Day
Shimla is a hill station, not a beach town, and the pool suits the season accordingly. April through June, while Shimla stays cooler than the plains below, is when a pool afternoon makes the most sense. Through the monsoon and into the colder months, the bonfire area tends to take over as the evening gathering spot instead - part of why the villa has both rather than just one or the other.
The Rest of the House, Briefly
The pool is one part of a five-ensuite-bedroom villa that also has a private gym, a living hall and dining room for the group to actually sit together, covered parking, and is pet-friendly. Standard occupancy is 10 guests, with room for up to 18 with additional bedding.
